Private Laravel backend suite

Merch Print Backend

Supplier Inventory, Catalogue & Quote Engine

Laravel Apps 3
Supplier Handlers 13
Sync Cadence 1 min

The Brief

This merch print project is a three-application Laravel suite for bulk customised merchandise sales. It connects supplier product feeds, stock quantities, delivery dates, pricing, marking costs, catalogue browsing and quote preparation into one private backend workflow.

Challenge

The business sells customised print merchandise sourced from multiple distributors. Each supplier exposes product data, stock, delivery timing, prices and decoration costs differently, so sales staff need a single operational view without manually reconciling spreadsheets before every quote.

Backend Suite

The system is split into an inventory app for master product and stock data, a catalogue app for product browsing and enquiry carts, and a quote engine for quote preparation and offer document handling. The apps share product truth while keeping catalogue content, admin controls and quote records in the right place.

Supplier Integrations

The inventory app includes a shared API handler plus supplier-specific import handlers for distributors including Anda, Asgard, Axpol, Cookie, Easygifts, FalkRoss, Jaguar, Macma, Malfini, Maxim, Midocean, PAR and USBSystem. Scheduled synchronisation updates products, stock, delivery ETAs, markings and supplier-specific costs.

Catalogue Workflow

The catalogue app imports selected products from the inventory app, assigns local categories, supports SKU and name search, availability filters, color filters, supplier-code filters, extra attribute filters, related categories, product detail pages, variant behaviour and an enquiry cart with category-specific quantity/comment labels.

Quoting Edge Cases

The quote engine stores full offer snapshots so prices, product names, markings and calculations remain auditable after the supplier data changes. Deleted inventory products are marked on old offers, blocked from editing and excluded from print output rather than silently breaking historic quote records.

Outcome

The backend gives the sales workflow a consistent path from supplier sync to product discovery to quote preparation, with live stock visibility, future delivery data and print-cost context available where staff need it.

Challenge

Sales staff needed one operational view of customised merchandise data because suppliers expose product details, stock, delivery timing, prices and decoration costs in different formats.

Solution

The backend suite separates inventory, catalogue and quote workflows while sharing product truth, supplier synchronisation, local catalogue controls, enquiry carts and quote snapshots for auditable offer handling.

Outcome

The sales workflow now has a consistent path from supplier sync to product discovery to quote preparation, with live stock visibility, future delivery data and print-cost context available where staff need it.

Lessons

  • Supplier feeds need normalised stock, price, delivery and marking data before they become useful to sales staff.
  • Catalogue browsing and quote preparation should share product truth while keeping local categories, enquiry behaviour and quote records separate.
  • Quote snapshots protect historic offers when supplier products, names, costs or availability change later.
